Metung Village

on

The small village of Metung, on the Gippsland lakes, is very fortunate to have several excellent eateries.  Last night I had dinner at the Metung Galley.

During winter the restaurant holds “Winter Warmers” every Tuesday night, I guess as a way to encourage locals and visitors to come out for a meal during winter.  Two courses for $25.

There is an excellent Tuesday menu which changes each month until the end of September.  I had Pumpkin, spinach and ricotta rotolo with Sage and Walnut Sauce. I followed this with Ricotta fritters and ice cream.  Delicious.  Always good to support local business.

The village has a general store which provides all the neccessities.

Each day there is a saying on the board outside.  The owner has a sense of humour!

There is also the local pub, The Metung Hotel.  Check out their excellent website.

A beautiful beer garden!

The village of Metung has some excellent shops and in future posts I will let you know a bit about them.

We retired here after living in Canberra and Bungendore. I will probably be blogging about them in the future. Heather

  2. I shared the quote of the day with my teen-age daughter! She’s only 14 and gave “two pages” as an answer. Love her!

We always check the board even when we are not going into the store. The quotes are usually funny and quite often accurate. Heather

  3. I love the sound of your meal, and am interested to see that you’ve written about Metung in these earlier posts.
