Bottling

My daughter has been staying with us for a few days as she recovers from a foot operation.  While she has been here we visited the op shops in the district to see if we could find a few bargains.  I was able to get some Fowlers Vacola Jars.

I will be able to buy the seals, lids and clips at the local hardware shop.

I tried bottling for the first time a few years ago, with disastrous results.  The book I used for my recipe was this one.

I’m sure my disaster was as a result of my method rather than any fault of the recipe as the author of the book appeared to have produced excellent results.

Since then I have purchased this book.

This is a fabulous book and I have used it many times for pickles and preserves so I am now going to use it to attempt bottling for the second time.  Now all I need to do is wait until mid – late summer for our peaches and apricots to ripen.  Perhaps I will have better luck next time.

  1. The picture of the jars in the box would make a lovely abstract painting using the same colors or in blues, perhaps?
