Lovesong

Just finished Lovesong by Alex Miller which won the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction 2011.

Lovesong is a story about John and his marriage to a Tunisian woman, Sabiha, their life running a cafe in Paris, her desire to have a child and the drama that ensues in light of the steps she takes to get pregnant. The story is told through the narrator, Ken, who is a writer.

I love the weaving of the three settings of Paris, Melbourne and Tunisia and the Tunisian culture.  A heart-wrenching love story.
