Blue green algae is a bummer

It is unfortunate that we have the problem of blue green algae in the lake at the moment.  The lake is out of bounds for various activities and this is the peak time for visitors to Metung. Information about the blue green algae in the lake at Metung is available at various websites and warning signs have been placed at strategic points around the lake.

The East Gippsland Catchment Management Authority took part in a River Symposium held in 2009 and these slides are taken from a presentation given by Denielle Warwick, Department of Sustainability and Environment, Victoria.

Hopefully the lake will soon be back to normal and the blue green algae a thing of the past!
