Carefree clothes for girls…. a doily dress

My daughter asked me to make a dress for my granddaughter.  She lent me the book Carefree clothes for girls by Junko Okawa.

and she had some doilies that I could use to make the dress she had selected.

I had some calico so I decided to use that with the doily.

The remainder of the doily is on the side of the dress.

It is a bit difficult to see it.

My daughter likes the crumpled look so I haven’t ironed it!

  1. That’s gorgeous! You’re such a whizzkid with the threads! When I saw the word ‘doilies’ I was thinking of those little paper mats you sometimes get under teacups, but I see it’s a sort of lace fabric. It’s beautiful, what an unusual look for children. You could be going into business as a dressmaker, I reckon, if you felt so inclined.

Great style and very creative. I love it 🙂
