An advent calendar made from scraps.

When my kids were little we used to buy an advent calendar that was made of cardboard and had chocolate behind each of the doors.  Having three children they had to take turns at opening the door for the particular day. Last year I made an Advent calendar for our house  This year I have made one for my elder daughter who has just moved into a new house.  This  calendar was made using left over pieces of fabric and some calico.  The pocket at the bottom opens up on Christmas eve.

The pockets are big enough to fit two small chocolates or some other delights!  The matchbox is there to give you some idea of size.

  1. That’s wonderful Heather, you’re so creative! How nice to have a homemade one too, instead of buying one. I think we made the occasional advent calendar when we were wee, but just drew pictures behind doors.
