A French referee. . .for Paris in July!

My link to France today is the French referee, Romain Poite, who officiated at the final test match between the Australian Wallabies and the British and Irish Lions. Unfortunately for the Wallabies they were soundly beaten by the Lions. There were some excellent individual displays from the Wallabies but they could not put it all together. The final score was 41 -16.  Only twelve years until the Wallabies get the chance to try again.

My other link to France today is the Tour de France and there we can celebrate the success in the tour of the Orica Green Edge team who held the yellow jersey for a few stages of the Tour. Now we are in the mountain stages and Orica has lost the yellow jersey.

I am not getting much sleep while the Tour is on as television coverage begins at 10.00pm. and generally finishes between 1.30am. and 2.00am. depending on the length of the stage. It is worth the loss of sleep to be able to enjoy the race and the views of the magnificent French countryside. This image is from when the Tour was in Corsica.
