Tinamba Hotel was terrific

tinambaThis unassuming little pub, the Tinamba Hotel, literally at a crossroads in Gippsland, hides an excellent restaurant which is also used as a venue for wedding receptions.  The hotel has been tastefully decorated and there is a wonderful atmosphere when you walk inside.

Last Friday we were fortunate enough to be able to partake in the James Squire Beer and Cider Degustation which was held at the hotel.  We were fortunate because when I originally rang to book, the restaurant was booked out and we were put on the waiting list.  At a later date someone obviously cancelled and we were lucky to be able to take their place.

We had a magical evening, even better than our expectations.  We had attended a wedding reception there some three years ago and had thoroughly enjoyed the food then.

MenuThe menu is a little spattered, I think it was some of the cheese!  My favourite course was. . . all of them!  I couldn’t pick which was the best as they were all terrific. You can see some of the courses on the Tinamba Hotel’s Facebook page. The food was delicious and the drinks that went with each course complemented the food.  I am not a beer drinker but I enjoyed all the beers with the exception of the Stow Away IPA which I found a little bitter.  The Jack of Spades Porter was an excellent accompaniment to the desserts but my favourite was the Orchard Crush Apple Cider.

accommodationSo we didn’t have to have a designated driver, it is usually me,  we had booked into the motel behind the pub.

DSCN0442Apparently Hugh Jackman and Debbie Furness had stayed there at some stage.

The following morning we drove into Maffra and enjoyed a delicious breakfast at a little cafe.
