Tuesday travels. . . .Pennan

Pennan HarbourTucked away on the Aberdeenshire coastline is Pennan, a pretty little spot famous as the location for the film “Local Hero”

I have to admit that I had not heard of the film even though it had won awards. The film was produced in 1983 and starred Burt Lancaster. It won a BAFTA award amongst others.

This is the phone box from the movie

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThere is really not a lot to see at Pennan but it is a pretty spot nonetheless.

You can view the complete movie on YouTube if you so desire.

Music is by Mark Knopfler and that alone is well worth listening to.

It is the 30th anniversary of the movie this year and you can read more about it here.
