This is one thought provoking book. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
The front cover states “Thriller of the year.” Well it certainly kept me guessing throughout. It also left me questioning what each person in a relationship really thinks, and do they act just how their partner expects them to act or are the truly being themselves. I don’t want to give away anything about the book so I will just give the blurb from the cover and leave you to find out for yourself.
I bought this book quite some time ago but have only just read it as I have been reading historical fiction as my main genre.
From the book cover:
Who are you?
What have we done to each other?
These are the questions Nick Dunne find himself asking on the morning of his fifth wedding anniversary, when his wife Amy suddenly disappears. The police suspect Nick. Amy’s friends reveal that she was afraid of him, that she kept secrets from him. He swears it isn’t true. A police examination of his computer shows strange searches. He says they weren’t made by him. And then there are the persistent calls on his mobile phone. So what did happen to Nick’s beautiful wife?
If you haven’t read this book you really must. You can find some short reviews at Litlovers.
Gone Girl has been made into a movie starring Ben Affleck but I suggest you read the book rather than see the movie.
