Olives are now ready to eat.

We can’t believe how delicious our olives are.  If you are a regular reader of this blog you will know that we bottled some of our home grown olives back in early June.  If you are new to the blog you can check how I bottled them here.

Well  we decided it was about time to give them a try and so we followed the instructions of draining the olives and then replacing the pickling solution with water and leaving for 24 hours.  I then put a little olive oil with chopped rosemary and lemon zest onto the olives, left them for a little while then proceeded to taste them.  Wow!  They are absolutely delicious.

olivesYou can see where we slit the olives as part of the pickling process.  I’m thinking maybe next time I will try to pit the olives before pickling that way we won’t have the slits it the olives.  Purely aesthetic!
