Federation Square is the meeting place for Melbournians for all sorts of events. While I was there it was during the Australian Open Tennis Tournament.

The Square proves popular for those unable to get in to the actual event as they can watch all the action on the big screen.
When I passed through the Square early in the morning the space was almost empty

but upon my return later in the day the deck chairs were all in use.I visited the latest exhibition in the Federation Square Studio – Mambo – 30 Years of shelf indulgence. Mambo started off making tee shirts for surfers and worked its way to become an Australian icon. Again it was something well worth the visit. It is only a small exhibition but there is a lot to take on board.
I hadn’t heard of this square before but it’s a great idea. I like the wording on that deck chair in the first pic, very Australian somehow.
