One of the tourist spots we visited while in North Yorkshire was the Eden Camp Museum. This museum is on the site of a prisoner of war camp used during World War 2.
We were so glad that we had allotted a full day for this site. There is just so much to see and a great deal to read. The displays are set out in such an interesting way and there are many very realistic dioramas. One of the displays had the tunnel which was dug underneath one of the huts and there was a prisoner moving along the tunnel on a trolley. Very realistic.
There was also one hut where there was a simulation of being in the Blitz. That was also very realistic with all the accompanying sounds and smoke.
There were various displays relating to the rationing that went on during the war.
I took many photos while we were there but for you to get more information you should visit the website. You can do a virtual tour of each of the huts so you get an idea of what to expect when you visit. This is one tourist spot that you should definitely visit if ever you are in North Yorkshire.
It sounds like a fascinating place to visit.
We absorbed so much information that day. It really was a fascinating place.
