What is this you may ask?

bathOur three children are all creative and this creation is amazing.  Our son made this in his apartment, he doesn’t have a shed so all the work was done either in his courtyard or in his kitchen!  What he has made is a Japanese soaking tub.

This website tells you all about Japanese soaking tubs.

You can see lots of ideas for these on Pinterest

Japanese tubsThis picture most accurately resembles the one my son has built.

Japanese tub 2The tub he has built had only one coat of varnish on it when I saw it and he still had other coats to put on but the actual construction was finished.

Japanese bath 3He has cleverly constructed it so there is a seat which can be placed inside and also used as part of the lid when the bath is filling with water – this helps to keep the water warm when filling.

bath4The tub will fit into his shower recess in his apartment.  I am impressed.

Oh, yes I learned a great deal about the Japanese love of soaking last year. It is a culture and ritual……..

He is such a clever guy, his talents are wasted. He is a credit to you both.

He just needs a house with a garden and a shed. He has certainly worked wonders in a small space.
