Getting ready. . . .

on

Getting ready with my pre-race reading for the Tour de France.  We really are spoilt for choice with sport at the moment.

Mitchelton-Scott, the Australian based team, have announced their team for the Tour and I am disappointed that Caleb Ewan is not included in the team for the Tour but there has been a change to the number of riders in a team and Mitchelton-Scott have decided to go for GC alone rather that split it with the sprint classification.  Maybe this omission will mean Caleb Ewan moves to another team at the end of the year when his contract comes up for renewal, I hope not as he is a talented rider.

Michael Matthews will have a hard time defending his green jersey against other contenders, Peter Sagan, just to name one.

I am hoping that Richie Porte has a great race as he had a dreadful accident last year when he was in contention for the yellow jersey.  Fingers crossed.

The race always makes for wonderful viewing as you get all the action along with magnificent French scenery.  SBS does a terrific job of broadcasting the event and we get the added benefit of the app SBS Skoda Tour Tracker which adds so much more to the experience.  The link I have shown is for the 2017 tracker as this year’s tracker is not available as all teams have not been finalised yet.

Hi there. I’ve just discovered your blog and am enjoying the read. I’m an australian living in southwest France. We also love to watch Le Tour and have gone along to watch it twice when it has been through our area. It’s a wonderful spectacle and everyone along the way is in such a happy mood. We can watch both the french and the english coverage, but we miss SBS as it’s the best by far. We were having lunch in a restaurant in Bergerac one year and who should walk in and sit at the next table ? Gabriel Gaté ! Hope you enjoy watching this year too.

      Hi Kerrie,
It was lovely to get this comment from you. Where exactly are you living in southwest France? We have been to France a few times but not the southwest.
I love the SBS coverage. I watched the Giro d’Italia and I missed the fact that it was not SBS coverage. I am so looking forward to Le Tour. Do you also read the comments on Twitter?
