Mackintosh. . . . .Tuesday Travels

on

As you know I am a fan of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and I had hoped to visit the Glasgow School of Art while we were in Glasgow.  Unfortunately the School of Art was not in a state for viewing as there had been a dreadful fire a few weeks before we arrived.  The building was in a dreadful state but there are plans to rebuild.

I thought we would then be able to go and view Hill House as another place where we could see Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s work.  Again we were thwarted as the Hill House was closed in readiness for major works to make the house weather-tight.  Luckily for us we discovered that if we visited The Lighthouse in the centre of Glasgow we would be able to view some of his works there. They have a Mackintosh Centre there.

We found, much to our delight, that the furniture from the Hill House was on display.

I took many photos which you can view on this slideshow.

The Lighthouse is a must visit if you are in Glasgow.
