We are living in different times

on

We recently travelled to Canberra to visit our younger daughter and her family and as a result of that we were required, as part of the COVID restrictions, to apply for a permit to return home.  You need a permit to enter Victoria to let the authorities know if you have been in one of the various traffic light zones. There are red, orange and green zones, depending on the amount of infections in the various areas.

We had been in Canberra, it is a green zone, so there was no difficulty in reentering the state and quarantine was not required.

I have deleted all the personal information.

Unfortunately it looks as though our present lockdown is likely to be extended.

  1. Wow, how exceedingly organized. Here in the US there are people who act like wearing a mask is a violation of their freedom and don’t get me started on vaccination passports or some type of proof of vaccination item that allows other people to screen the people they are meeting for lunch. I would be supportive of your border entry protocols. We just opened wide up here and I am so nervous now to go out shopping as my protection from the vaccine is not a sure thing. We do, indeed, live in different times.

Thank you so much for your comment.
We have just heard that Melbourne has now been told that the lockdown will continue for another seven days. Here in regional Victoria some of our restrictions have been eased as there have been no cases reported in the regional areas.
Interesting to read your comments on COVID life in the US. We are so lucky that our state government is prepared to make the hard decisions regarding lockdowns and contact tracing but unfortunately our Federal government doesn’t appear to have the same courage regarding vaccine roll out and quarantine housing.

      1. My state government did a pretty good job, but we border on states that wouldn’t even impose a mask mandate and there was free travel between states. I think that it is really best for the federal government to step in and give strong guidance and policy implementation. It is what you said…courage!

Thanks Gary. Regional Victoria have less severe restrictions from tomorrow. I am fine. I have had one vaccination and get the second in August.
